In science right now we are learning how to make observations. We started this unit by learning how to use a hand lens and what qualities an object needs to have to magnify objects. Students have now moved on to using microscopes to take an even closer look at the world around them.Today students learned that the smallest living unit is a cell. Students took a piece of onion skin and looked at it under the microscope and saw a rectangular pattern repeated over and over. One students have mastered looking good at still objects we will move onto living organizams.
We are currently studying the early peoples of North and South America in social studies. Each student has selected a Native American tribe to research and create a museum display to share with the class. The students have a packet of information that lays out the project. Students have been researching in school and should have at least 2 good websites to use to help find the information they need and checked out a book if there was one in the library. Students will have one class period a week plus they can use their morning work time. In the end students should have 7 paragraphs plus pictures and a model of the type of home they lived in. If students need supplies they are welcome to look at what I have in my art closet.
